Everton Make Contact With 26-Year-Old Over Summer Move

Everton are believed to have made contact with Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma over a summer move to the club, according to a fresh transfer claim.

What is the latest Arnaut Danjuma transfer news?

The 26-year-old, who earned £45,000 per week while on loan last year, is someone whose future could be up in the air during the current transfer window.

During his time at Spurs, Danjuma scored once in nine Premier League appearances and also netted twice in La Liga prior to joining on a temporary basis back in January. While the Dutchman's current deal doesn't expire until the summer of 2026, it could be that Villarreal are willing to move him on this summer if they fail to see a long-term future for him at the club.

Everton have been linked with a move for the winger as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2023/24 season – Spurs pipped them to his signature back in the January window – and a new update has now emerged regarding their pursuit of him.

Could Everton sign Arnaut Danjuma?

According to Football Insider, the Blues have contacted Danjuma over a summer switch to Goodison Park, with a loan move again mooted:

"Everton have made contact with Villarreal about signing winger Arnaut Danjuma this summer.

"Contact has been made over a potential loan deal, with the Toffees ready to pay a loan fee as they prepare to submit an offer. It is believed that Sean Dyche has already spoken to the player ahead of a move.

"Everton are hoping to sign two forwards before the end of the summer transfer window."

This is an exciting update from an Everton perspective, with wide attacking options badly needed this summer in order to provide Sean Dyche with more firepower in the final third.

The Blues scored just 34 goals in 38 Premier League matches in 2022/23, outlining how important it is for new signings to come and boost that area of the pitch as the club look to avoid a third straight relegation battle.

In Danjuma, Everton would be signing someone with experience in two of Europe's top five leagues, with the Dutchman scoring 12 goals in 33 appearances in La Liga, not to mention bagging two strikes in six caps for a talented Netherlands team that features the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Frenkie de Jong and Cody Gakpo, to name just a few of their top players.

At 26, the Villarreal ace would also be coming in at a good point in his career, having gained enough experience to be a well-rounded footballer. Indeed, pundit Kevin Phillips has described him as a "nightmare for defenders", highlighting the attacking threat that he possesses – but also that he still potentially has four or five years left in his prime.

Whether he will be keen to join a side that has battled at the wrong end of the Premier League table in recent times remains to be seen, though the fact that he was previously close to signing could suggest this may not be a problem.

In that case, it may simply come down to Dyche convincing Danjuma that this is the right project for him to spearhead following the Toffees' dramatic final-day survival last term.

Romano Drops Huge Transfer Update For Chelsea

Chelsea will "explore the centre-back market" this summer following the revelation that Wesley Fofana is injured yet again and will miss out on the team's preseason tour of the USA, per transfers expert Fabrizio Romano.

Are Chelsea signing a new centre-back?

It has been a successful transfer window for the Blues so far this summer. Not only have the club shifted a significant number of players they clearly feel aren't good enough to contribute next season, but they have also started to bring in some exciting youngsters like Nicolas Jackson, who could be future starters.

Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.

That said, some terrible luck has just hit Mauricio Pochettino's side; defender Fofana will miss preseason as he suffers with yet another serious knee injury.

The club announced the 29-man squad that would be travelling to the US last night, with the omission of the Frenchman. The reason given by the west Londoners is that he is suffering from a knee injury in what is sure to be a crushing blow for Pochettino and the player himself.

This most recent injury will be the third he's had since joining the Blues from Leicester City in summer 2022 in a deal worth £75m.

In the year since joining Chelsea, he has already missed 20 games due to the 126 days he has spent on the sidelines, and with this most recent injury being another problem with his knee there is, unsurprisingly, concern that he could once again be out of action for weeks or months.

This concern has forced the club into action, with them now looking to sign a new centre-back to cover the hole this injury has left in their backline, per transfers expert Fabrizio Romano.

He explained the situation on his YouTube channel, saying:

"In case the injury will take some weeks or months for Fofana to be back, the idea of Chelsea, is to explore the centre-back market to find maybe a solution in the final days of July or in the first weeks of August. At the moment, still nothing advanced, still nothing concrete."

Who have Chelsea been linked to?

There have been several high-profile players linked with Chelsea this summer, but perhaps none more prominent than Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian has seemingly become the club's number one transfer target over the last month, and with constant dialogue between themselves and Brighton & Hove Albion, they certainly seem favourites to land his signature.

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

However, the player has reportedly become frustrated with how long negotiations are taking, partly due to Chelsea's reluctance to meet the Seagulls' valuation of £100m.

Juventus' Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic is another name that has been touted with a move to West London for much of the summer thus far.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, the Bianconeri have placed a hefty price tag of €90m (£77m) on the head of their leading number nine, a price which has so far deterred any clubs from lodging genuine offers for his services.

At least that is what Corriere dello Sport have reported, and with the Belgian edging closer to a potential move to Turin, it will be interesting to see if the Belgrade-born-star ends up in the Premier League.

Rudolph and Ingram see off Gloucs

Captain Jacques Rudolph passed 10,000 List A runs with a masterly 121 as Glamorgan began their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign with an 18-run South Group win over Gloucestershire under Duckworth-Lewis-Stern at Bristol. It was Rudolph’s 18th List A century and led his side to 277 for 7 after they had been invited to bat first. Colin Ingram contributed 45 to a third-wicket stand of 89. In reply Gloucestershire slumped to 32 for 3. Chasing a target of 251 from 44 overs, twice revised because of rain, the home side fell short, despite 78 from Michael Klinger, 51 from Graeme van Buuren and a quickfire 51 from Jack Taylor.Ingram removed both batsmen lbw in the same over after the second rain break with his gentle looking legspin and after a partnership of 114 for the fourth-wicket, the hosts were unable to summon up enough late-order runs.A week short of his 36th birthday, Rudolph made his runs off 143 balls, with 10 fours and two sixes, before being yorked by Chris Liddle in the penultimate over, by which time the total was 261 for 7. The left-handed opener was unruffled throughout, gradually building momentum and ensuring his side of a competitive score.David Lloyd shared in a first-wicket stand of 56, laying a decent foundation. Ingram then gave Rudolph valuable support and was just starting to cut loose when becoming the second Glamorgan batsman to be carelessly run out.Gloucestershire’s bowlers found it tough on a dry pitch that looked prime to bat on. Liam Norwell was the most economical, conceding 39 from his ten overs. Marchant de Lange added a valuable 15 off just four balls to end the Glamorgan innings with a bang and then took the early wickets of Phil Mustard and Chris Dent to put the home side firmly on the back foot.Like Dent, Ian Cockbain went for a duck. Klinger and van Buuren were forced to exercise caution, but gradually grew in confidence. Klinger, making his first appearance of the season, was first to his half-century off 57 balls, with seven fours, while his partner followed to the same landmark, having faced 65 deliveries, also hitting seven boundaries. Two short breaks for rain interrupted their concentration and saw the target change. Then Ingram’s double strike, removing Klinger pushing forward and van Buuren sweeping, swung the game firmly back Glamorgan’s way.Jack Taylor kept things interesting with some typically powerful hitting, striking two sixes in a Michael Hogan over. But 57 were needed from the last five overs and the wily Ingram was proving hard to get away.Taylor collected a third six off Hogan, but 40 were required off three and 32 off two. Taylor went to a 34-ball half-century including three fours and three sixes, but it wasn’t enough and he fell to the last ball of the penultimate over, run out by wicketkeeper Chris Cooke attempting a bye to keep the strike after a play and miss.

Spinners losing sting with old ball – Sandakan

The new ball remained key to the spinners’ menace on this P Sara deck, said Lakshan Sandakan, after he took 4 for 140 in the Colombo Test.Sri Lanka were not particularly effective with either the first or second new ball, taking most of their wickets after the shine had worn off. But they did raise some close lbw shouts, and drew several mistakes from the batsmen, both early in Bangladesh’s innings and soon after taking the second new ball. Rangana Herath emerged with the innings’ best figures, wiping out the tail to finish with 4 for 82 while seam bowler Suranga Lakmal took 2 for 90, and though Dilruwan Perera did not make a breakthrough, he bowled his 33 overs with good control.”The wicket became a bit slow, and when the newness of the ball goes, there’s nothing much from the pitch,” Sandakan said. “You have to toil a bit here and work hard. Rangana and Dilruwan [Perera] bowled in good spots and put good pressure on them, and that’s why we were able to get them out. Suranga [Lakmal] also bowled really well, because it’s not a pitch that favours quicks and he did his job really well. If you keep the ball as new as possible, I think the spinners have a good chance here.”It was Sandakan who dismissed Bangladesh’s top-scorer Shakib Al Hasan in the afternoon session, but he could have had him out for 11 had a catch at deep square leg been held. A couple of chances had gone down off Sandakan’s bowling in the first Test in Galle as well, but he was philosophical about the misses. “Having a catch dropped [is] not a new thing for a bowler. Whether you play club cricket or school cricket, catches can be missed. Maybe the catch goes up because it’s a very good ball so I try to look at it as a positive and keep trying to bowl good balls.”In addition to the dropped catch off Sandakan, Sri Lanka also spilled a chance off Lakmal, missed a straightforward run-out, and were uncharacteristically sloppy on the field.Adding to Sandakan’s problems was a difficulty bowling to a right-left batting combination. He conceded 4.24 per over as Shakib, the left-hander, forged partnerships of 92 and 131 with right-handers Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain.”Changing according to whether the batsman is a left-hander or right-hander is a bit difficult for me, with the way my action is. But we need to be focused on where to bowl to batsmen. I think if you can bowl straight, you’ll be able to do something. Whether I bowl the googly or the chinaman or whatever, if I pitch it in the right place, I think I have a good chance – it doesn’t really matter whether he’s right or left handed.”

£140k-p/w star is a ‘question mark’ for Klopp at Anfield

Liverpool have "lots of work to do" with Darwin Nunez next season, according to Redmen TV presenter Ste Hoare.

The Uruguayan international joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022 for a club-record fee of £85m, but the Liverpool expert believes that the enigmatic forward isn't the best player available in any frontline position at the club.

Has Darwin Nunez had a good first season?

After arriving from Benfica, Nunez has had an interesting first season on Merseyside, with incredible highs balanced out with embarrassing lows.

The 23-year-old made 42 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, and registered 15 goals and four assists, with his highlights being a brace in the Reds' historic 7-0 victory against arch-rivals Manchester United, as well as a fantastic opening goal in Liverpool's first-leg clash against LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

However, it hasn't been all positive for the former Almeria whiz, with moments such as his debut red card against Crystal Palace at Anfield, whilst a whopping 20 big chances missed in the Premier League gives further cause for concern.

The 6 foot 2 forward has found himself falling down the pecking order as well following the arrival of Cody Gakpo in January in tandem with the return from injury of both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, with the striker only starting three of the club's final 12 league games.

What has Ste Hoare said about Darwin Nunez and Liverpool?

Speaking on Nunez's situation at the club, the Redmen TV presenter told Football FanCast:

"There’s a question mark of how he fits into the team. Because he isn’t the best left option. And he isn’t the best forward option.

"Jota and Diaz are both better than him on the left, and at this moment in time, Gakpo and Jota are both better than him up front, so I think there is lots of work to be done on Darwin Nunez, to be honest with you."

darwin-nunez-liverpool-tottenham-hotspur-cristian-romero-klopp

What does the future hold for Darwin Nunez in Liverpool?

Liverpool won't give up on the £140k-per-week star just yet, with manager Jurgen Klopp stating before the Red's clash with Nottingham Forest in April that the situation is a "long-term project".

Whilst on the face of it, Nunez has had a mediocre campaign, his underlying numbers paint the picture of a player with all the potential to become one of the most feared attackers in European football.

His non-penalty expected goals + assists per 90 is 0.97, which according to FBref, is among the top 1% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues, showcasing that should Nunez become more clinical and decisive, he could be contributing almost a goal a game.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping that the Uruguayan has a similar trajectory as his time at Benfica, where after a disappointing first campaign, the Uruguayan attacker burst to life, having scored 34 goals in 41 games across all competitions.

Arsenal Set To Launch Bid For 24 y/o “Monster”

Arsenal are days away from making an official proposal for West Ham United's Declan Rice, claims transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The update comes off the back of the Irons' triumph in the Europa Conference League just last week.

Arsenal Transfer News – Declan Rice

The West Ham captain has been heavily linked with a move to north London since the closing stages of the January transfer window earlier this year.

The most significant update in the whole saga came in the immediate aftermath of the Hammers' victory in the Conference League final, when chairman David Sullivan confirmed the player would leave in the summer.

Other teams have reportedly been interested in the player alongside the Gooners, notably the German giants Bayern Munich.

The interest from the Bundesliga champions primarily stemmed from manager Thomas Tuchel's "admiration" for the England international.

However, it looks like it's Mikel Arteta and Arsenal who are "confident" that they will land the "absolute monster", as described by ESPN writer David Cartlidge.

The deal is expected to be worth in the region of £100m if certain add-ons are achieved, which would be a new British transfer record, per the Guardian.

What has transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said about Declan Rice to Arsenal?

Romano updated Arsenal fans on the deal's progress and stressed that the official proposal was just around the corner.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano claimed: "I can confirm what I said weeks ago, days ago, and I keep saying, Arsenal will bid for Declan Rice. While I'm speaking, they are preparing the official proposal, the bid will arrive soon, we are just waiting for that moment, but Arsenal will send an official bid for Declan Rice. The idea has always been to bid this week, so let's wait and see."

Romano also clarified Bayern Munich's stance towards the player, saying: "Bayern sources feel that the player is now orientated 100% to staying in the Premier League as priority. It's up to the clubs now, there is no problem on the personal terms."

"So Arsenal working on Declan Rice deal. This is an important update for the Gunners."

Would Declan Rice be a good signing for Arsenal?

With the expected departure of long-term player Granit Xhaka to Borussia Monchengladbach this summer, a player like Rice would be an ideal replacement.

According to WhoScored, the English midfielder averages a rating of 7.01 across his 36 league appearances this year, marginally better than the Swiss captain's 6.98.

The underlying numbers better highlight the West Ham man's abilities.

According to FBref, Rice completes 1.36 tackles per 90 compared to Xhaka's 1.14, and the 24-year-old also completes one take-on per 90 compared to the ex-Gladbach man's 0.51.

Temperament is something else the 24-year-old midfielder has over the man he may replace, as he has averaged only 0.14 yellow cards a game, around half the number of the hot-headed Gunner.

Whilst most will agree that Xhaka has certainly improved this year, the potential purchase of the Kingston upon Thames-born midfielder would be an upgrade.

Former West Ham goalkeeper turned pundit Shaka Hislop thinks so, telling Ladbrokes Fanzone: 'it's time to move away from Xhaka, in which case Rice is a good fit.'

If Romano is right, the Gunners won't have to wait much longer to see their man in red and white.

Arsenal Linked With £35.5m Barcelona Flop

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed Arsenal want to sign Barcelona flop Malcom after a "sensational" season with FC Zenit.

What are the latest Arsenal and Malcom rumours?

The Gunners will no doubt be on the hunt for a number of new signings this summer having Champions League football for next season.

And it sounds as though they could be after a former transfer target who appears to have potentially turned his career around.

Indeed, Malcom was linked with a move to the Premier League club way back in 2018, while Tottenham Hotspur were also in the mix.

The player failed to impress at Barcelona – earning himself a label as a "flop" – before moving onto Zenit where he has rediscovered his best form.

While talking on 90min's Talking Transfers, Bailey explained that the Brazilian has had a great season and will soon be heading back to "mainstream European football".

He said (44:35): He's had a sensational season for Zenit. He had 30 goal contributions in total.

"And he's got a lot, he's got some very big clubs who have been very impressed by his progress PSG, but also Arsenal, Man City and Newcastle – we are being told, have also taken note.

"It's a difficult situation. Teams are going to have to buy him, he is co-owned by some Brazilian businessman as well, but keep an eye on this one.

"Malcom is very much a wanted man. And I think it'd be heading back to mainstream European football.”

What happened to Malcom at Barcelona?

After a fine year in Ligue 1 at Bordeaux, he eventually joined Barcelona for around €41m (£35.5m) but made a total of six league starts amassing 608 minutes of football in his debut season (via 90min).

Malcom was then sold to Zenit the following summer and has steadily developed into a great player for them, netting 26 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions this season.

Despite it seeming like it was so long ago that Arsenal wanted him, he is still only 26 years of age and so could be of interest to Mikel Arteta.

It seems Arsenal won't be the only big European club keeping tabs on his progress this summer but with Malcom playing so well on the right wing in Russia, he could be viewed as an ideal backup for Bukayo Saka – especially as rotation will be key next term with Champions League football to contend with as well.
