His last first-class game was a tour match during England’s tour of the West Indies in 1990.He also served as the president and treasurer of the Barbados Cricket Umpires Association (BCUA). He was also a former managing director of Corbin Compton, a leading local advertising company.”He was a good umpire. I don’t think he ever had a bad report,” Lloyd Barker, a former international umpire, told the Barbados Cricket Association website. “He knew the game and was always very involved in the training of new umpires.”Joel Garner, the former West Indies bowler and current president of the Barbados Cricket Association, said in a West Indies Cricket Board release that Harrison had enjoyed the confidence of the players he worked with. “As a player I came into contact with Mr Harrison on many occasions while playing at the club level and in regional cricket and he was always a strong, firm umpire.”He was a good communicator and won the confidence of all the players. He made a huge contribution to the game at the club level in Barbados and also helped with the development of regional cricket as well.”WICB president, Julian Hunte, praised Harrison’s contribution to umpiring in the Caribbean. “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Nigel Harrison, who was one of the leading umpires in Barbados and West Indies cricket. He carried himself with dignity and made a significant contribution to the game he loved. He helped to lift the standard of umpiring across the region and was a standard-bearer.”Harrison also played club cricket for the Spartan Cricket Club, where he played alongside former West Indies players Wes Hall, David Holford, Cammie Smith, Tony Howard and Peter Lashley.

كشفت تقارير صحفية ألمانية، أن المسؤولين في نادي بايرن ميونخ الألماني، يناقشون مستقبل القائد مانويل نوير مع الفريق بعد تصريحاته الأخيرة الهجومية ضد إدارة النادي.

وكانت قد نشبت أزمة كبيرة بين قائد بايرن ميونخ، الحارس مانويل نوير، وإدارة النادي الألماني، في الأيام الماضية، بعد تصريحات للحارس واضطر كل من رئيس النادي، هربرت هاينر، والرئيس التنفيذي أوليفر كان، والمدير الرياضي، حسن صالح حمديتيش للرد عليه.

وتعرض مانويل نوير بعد انتهاء مشوار منتخب ألمانيا في بطولة كأس العالم قطر 2022، لكسر في الساق أثناء رحلة تزلج على الجليد، وسيغيب حتى نهاية الموسم الحالي، مما أحبط المسؤولين بعض الشيء.

ونجح بايرن ميونخ في التعاقد مع السويسري يان سومر حارس نادي بوروسيا مونشنجلادباخ، بعد مفاوضات لأيام كثيرة، لأنه يريد حارسًا أساسيًا وفي الوقت نفسه، استغل جلادباخ أزمة بايرن وماطل معه للحصول على أكبر قيمة من الصفقة.

صحيفة “بيلد” الألمانية، أكدت بأن كبار المسؤولين في بايرن ميونخ، لم يقرروا العقوبة التي سيتم توقيعها على مانويل نوير بسبب تصريحاته ضد النادي، خاصة وأن من الناحية التعاقدية سينتهي عقد اللاعب في 30 يونيو 2024.

ووفقًا لمعلومات الصحيفة الألمانية، فإن مستقبل النادي حتى الآن يُناقش داخل جدران بايرن ميونخ، وربما لن يلعب مجددًا بقميص البافاري، إذا قرر النادي عرضه للبيع.

من جانبه، أصيب ناجيلسمان ببرود بسب تصريحات مانويل نوير، اكتشف المدرب ما قاله قائده، ويرى بأنه تجاوز الحدود، خاصة وأن العلاقة بين جوليان والحارس الألماني صعبة منذ البداية.

ويرى ناجيلسمان أن القائد الفعلي للفريق هو جوشوا كيميتش وليس مانويل نوير، ويخبره ببعض الأشياء الهامة التي يرفض إبلاغها لـ مانويل، فيما يخص التحركات والتوجيهات التكتيكية في الملعب.

وبعيدًا عن شارة القيادة، فإن التعاقد مع يان سومير حارس مرمى بوروسيا مونشنجلادباخ في ميركاتو الشتاء، وتوقيع عقد حتى 2025، رسالة مشفرة لـ مانويل نوير أن مكانه حتى في حراسة المرمى ليس مضمونًا.

أوليه هونيس فقط، هو من يدعم ويقف في ظهر مانويل نوير، حيث يعتبره الحارس الألماني الأب الروحي له، ولكنه لا يمكنه أن يأخذ قرارًا ضد الإدارة بالكامل، حيث أن أوليفر كان وصالح حميديتش، خلف ناجيلسمان ويرى الثلاثي أن مانويل نوير لا يستحق الاستمرار.

A abertura da 12ª Rodada do Brasileirão da Série B teve, na cidade de Campinas a Ponte Preta empatando com o CSA com o placar de 1 a 1. Ireland Women recovered from their loss to Netherlands Women yesterday, to register a comprehensive 90-run win against Scotland Women in the Women’s European Championship at Kampong, Utrecht. The win was fashioned by an all-round performance by Kim Garth and an aggressive 85 by captain Isobel Joyce.Ireland were in trouble after being asked to bat, losing their openers within the first four overs with only eight on the board. But Joyce – the sister of England and Ireland men’s player Ed Joyce – steadied the innings by stringing together partnerships with Laura Delany, Laura Boylan and Garth before being stumped for what is her best ODI score. Garth then guided the lower order, pushing Ireland to a competitive 241 for 6.None of the Scotland batsmen could really get going in the chase, as the target was reduced to 214 off 39 overs due to rain. Even Kari Anderson, who top-scored, could not move along quickly enough, her unbeaten 43 coming off 97 balls. The innings was wrecked by four run-outs, two of which involved Garth. Garth also picked up opener Catherine Smaill in a miserly spell in which she conceded 12 runs off seven overs.Scotland play Netherlands tomorrow at the same venue.

Put into bat by their opponents the Unicorns, Glamorgan had reached 45 for 2 from 11.1 overs when a third rain interruption proved terminal with the umpires – Mark Benson and Neil Mallender – abandoning the match shortly before 5.30pm. Glamorgan and the Unicorns take a point each from the contest.The home side had an early scare when Gareth Rees was trapped lbw to the second ball of the match from Neil Saker. Glamorgan were in further trouble when Jim Allenby played a rash shot which saw him caught behind off Glen Querl for 16. Two short rain breaks reduced the game to 38 overs per side and then 37. But just as captain Alviro Petersen and Stewart Walters seemed to be launching a recovery the rain arrived for a third time.

The former Test opener and current selector Mohammad Ilyas has been served two showcause notices by the PCB; the first for his part in the board’s ongoing dispute with former captain Shahid Afridi, and the second for his appearance on a TV show on Sunday night that also included Salman Butt.Ilyas was the target of specific and personal criticism from Afridi in the days after he announced his conditional retirement from the game and launched a blitz against the board that has now taken on a legal hue. Late last week, an incensed Ilyas felt compelled to respond with his own attacks against Afridi and was duly issued with the notice on Friday, in which the board said he had violated the code of conduct applicable to officials.Afridi and Ilyas have history: Ilyas has often opposed the selection of Afridi in the side but it has ballooned in recent months. Afridi accused Ilyas of promoting his son-in-law Imran Farhat, while Ilyas responded by saying Afridi had pushed unfairly and persistently for Ahmed Shahzad, Fawad Alam and Shahzaib Hasan.Fuelling the dispute are Afridi’s comments about a “Punjab-Lahore lobby” working against him since he became captain – Ilyas is from Lahore and Afridi, a Pathan from Karachi – remarks that have seriously irked the board and a number of prominent ex-cricketers in Lahore.At a press conference in Karachi, Afridi clarified his remarks, saying that he was talking about an individual and not a region or people. “I did say it, but I only said it so that the media would understand who I am talking about,” he said. “After that I stopped saying it and I took Ilyas’s name. the work that he is using the kind of language that he is using everyone can see. I will not talk of provinces, I play for Pakistan.”Ilyas is expected to respond today to the first notice, but comments he made on Sunday night on a show on are expected to land him in further trouble. A bizarre line-up of guests on the show included Ilyas, Salman Butt, Sarfraz Nawaz, as well as a brief telephonic appearance from Ijaz Butt, chairman PCB.Ilyas repeated most of his earlier criticisms on Afridi’s performances as player and captain – stating again that he had refused to sign off on Afridi’s selection in the squad for the West Indies ODI series – as well as explaining his response to the personal attacks. One particular remark, however, is likely to prove more incendiary than others, a derogatory proverb – not to be taken literally – involving dogs.But what is likely to concern any number of observers is the presence of a board official on a talk show with Salman, who was banned earlier this year for ten years (five suspended) after being found guilty by a tribunal of spot-fixing. Butt was also critical of Afridi’s captaincy, though he stressed that he had no personal issues with him. Afridi said only, “Everyone saw who was sitting with who on TV last night, so I don’t want to say too much.”It will not be lost on neutrals and Afridi’s supporters, that another personality critical of Afridi is said to be Mazhar Majeed, the player-agent allegedly at the centre of the spot-fixing controversy and currently under trial in the UK in the same case. On what is believed to be his twitter account, Majeed has been severely critical of Afridi thrice during the course of the last week or so.”
